Today
was the first day of our Hawken project. Despite our eagerness to start cooking
we had to spend the days working out the technicalities of our project. We
spent the day researching cooking terms and other cooking blogs. After feeling
that we had a solid grip on the basic composition of a food blogging we decided
that it was time to create our own. This led us to the tricky part. Even
though, we have grown up in the “age of technology”, blogs can be hard to maneuver
at first. Once we finally got a grip on the blog constructing process we were
able to add our own creative aesthetics and finished the basic construction of
our blog.
Thursday 5/15
Feeling
comfortable that our blog was nearly complete, minus a few nit-picky details we
thought it was a good time to plan out our schedule for the rest of the weeks
and what we would be baking. We took some time to consult our mentor on what
would be the best plan of action to attack the cooking world. With her immense amount
of help we created schedule for the rest of this week and the following week.
Now we
realized it was time for us to get cooking! We decided that what would be the
better way to kick off the cooking part of our project then with chocolate chip
cookies. After grinding out some chocolate chip cookies, we knew the much
anticipated moment of creating our first blog post had arrived. It took some time
to struggle through our amateur blogging skills, but the result of our first
blog post left us feeling happy and excited for the countless more to come.
Friday 5/16
Today
was our busiest day yet. We decided that the theme for our blog today would be
picnic day. After thinking about it we realized that picnics where very underappreciated,
and we couldn’t even remember the last time that we went on a picnic. Hoping to
bring back this fun tradition that existed so long ago we decided to make a
picnic basket and bring it to two of our friends on the lunch break of their
project. For this picnic we made BLT’s, banana bread, fruit-ka-bobs, and
mini-pies. Needless to say it was a lot of cooking. Luckily, it was all
rewarded with an amazing meal on a picnic with friends and a few more blog
posts under our belts.

DeleteWhat could be more fun than making food with friends?! Your project, though a little hectic with all of the nitty gritty blog stuff, sounds like so much fun, and obviously creates delicious results. Being among the first to taste your picnic basket, I can attest that it was truly delicious, and really brought the entire spirit of what picnicking is all about! Chris and I were very grateful!
