Week 1 on Project

This week we were mainly focused on forming the basis of our blog. During these first 3 days we planned out the week’s recipes and also set up our social media. We now have a Pinterest account, which will allow us to search the boundless site for food inspiration, a Twitter account, where we can keep followers up to date on our blog progress, and an Instagram account where we can show our creations. These will all help us drum up an audience for our blog.
Other than setting up our social media we also created our blog website. I have never created a website and am not the most technologically inclined person, therefore it was a little hard to figure out where to start. However, after crawling the web we found a site to help us create our website. After playing around with the site’s elements it became rather easy to navigate and create! We inserted in website elements like links, pages, and photos. We have also different sections that will be useful for our web visitors. We didn’t launch the blog on the first day because we wanted to have a few posts ready before we introduced it to everyone. We now have 5 blog posts and our blog it posted!
We have also spent time researching different recipes and food blogs. Through this research we were able to plan our recipes for this upcoming week and also see how to incorporate different ingredients together in a unique manner. We also saw how to visually set-up a food blog. This research is crucial to our senior project and we will constantly be looking for more ideas!
After our research and planning we decided to get started! We decided to start with the popular chocolate chip cookie. While making this recipe we took pictures of our steps and recorded our ingredients. This week we also made banana bread, salted apple caramel pies, and a tangy BLT. On Friday we took all the food we made, plus more, and created a special picnic blog post! We brought this carefully constructed picnic to two of our friends. It was a lot of fun and it was very cool to get feedback on our food (which, luckily, they loved!).
We are really excited about our blog and hope that many people will visit it and try to cook our food! We have really enjoyed our first few days on project and look forward to the next couple weeks!
